Using Learning Analytics for Ontology-based modelling of learner profiles and curricula
Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching materials that are freely available to both students and teachers on the Internet. Their incorporation can significantly simplify, accelerate and enrich the design of new teaching material. To do this, however, teachers must be given the opportunity to find suitable materials as quickly and easily as possible.
In a previous research project, UDL was used to create a basis for this by using a combination of semantic modelling and automatic content extraction methods. The focus is on the assignment of suitable teaching materials to the national teaching curriculum, taking into account known information about the users involved. (In the context of this project, the latter can be the designing teachers as well as individual learners). For this purpose, the subject-specific concepts of the curriculum and their relations are to be modelled in a machine-interpretable form (using Semantic Web technologies) and a suitable mapping to (a) meta-data of learning materials and (b) results of automatic procedures for content extraction is to be developed. The aim is to support teachers in designing teaching units by recommending matching content.
This is based on existing work on content indexing and modelling of teaching materials and curricula (i. e. Bracht, 2006; Kalogeraki et al. 2016) and on user modelling in learning environments (Abyaa, Idrissi & Bennani, 2019).
